San Jose’s EXHUMED have blazed a path for modern-sensible old-school death metal since the band’s 1991 formation, when the band’s founder and sole remaining member Matt Harvey was a tender 15 years old. EXHUMED spent much of the ensuing decade hacking their way through numerous line-ups, demos, split CDs, and EPs. In 1998, the band finally released their debut album, the genre-(re)defining and critic-repulsing Gore Metal. The album crystallized the sound forged with their l994 demo (old-school death metal meets full-on grindcore with the spirit of thrash) and first split CD (Horrific Expulsion of Gore and 1996’s In the Name of Gore respectively); the band envisioned the three releases as a trilogy of sorts.

EXHUMED then released their barbaric sophomore record Slaughtercult in 2001 and 2003’s more sophisticated Anatomy is Destiny before taking time away from the scene. The band returned in 2011 for their comeback album All Guts, No Glory. After a grueling tour schedule, EXHUMED released their fifth album, Necrocracy in 2013, as well recording a split with Relapse label-mates Iron Reagan in 2014 and re-recording their 1998 classic debut album, which was released Gore Metal: A Necrospective.

After four long years, EXHUMED return with their 6th full-length and tread into ambitious new territory with their first concept album. Lock the mausoleum doors and chain up the cemetery gates, Death Revenge is a musical melodrama in thirteen parts based on shocking true events. Death Revenge takes place in the late 1820s in Edinburgh, Scotland and tells the macabre tale of a series of brutal murders where the victims' cadavers were sold to anatomists, amid a grisly underground trade of grave-robbery. Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Goatwhore, Hate Eternal, Gruesome), Death Revenge takes the band's signature gore-drenched, death metal mayhem to theatrical and ghastly new depths.

EXHUMED replaced longtime guitar player Bud Burke with Sebastian Phillips (Noisem) in 2018 as Burke was unable to keep up with the band's rigorous tour schedule. Phillips' aggressive six-string attack slotted perfectly into the band's framework and added a new level of intensity to their gore-soaked stage show.

Now 21 years since their murderous debut, EXHUMED rise once again with gore-obsessed death metal on their new brand new album - Horror. Aptly titled, Horror is an exploration of all things macabre, as the undisputed pioneers of neck-breaking riffs plow through 15 of the band’s most intense tracks to date. Nightmares meet shred, as the speed-inducing track “Ravenous Cadavers” highlight EXHUMED’s penchant for blazing, face melting guitar work, while “Naked, Screaming and Covered in Blood” & “Playing With Fear” elevate EXHUMED to levels of grind unheard of since Gore Metal!

Horror was recorded at EXHUMED’s home-built studio Darker Corners, a first in the band’s career. Horror was prodcued by EXHUMED and Alejandro Corredor (Brujeria, Nausea) and was mixed & mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust). Fear the true HORROR of EXHUMED!]

In 2022, EXHUMED return from the depths with their macabre new album, To The Dead, out October 21! The band's storied career needs no introduction; EXHUMED are the pioneers of blood-soaked "Gore" Metal. To the Dead is the culmination of decades upon decades of nightmarish riffs, obliterating blast beats, and hellish screams from the very depths the band crawled out from!

"To The Dead is a destination," EXHUMED mastermind Matt Harvey says. "A rotting world populated by the grotesquely twisted truths of our waking world and the decaying fallout of our most deranged ambitions. But it's also a title that evokes a celebration of, and an invitation into the gore-soaked world of EXHUMED."

The very celebration of EXHUMED's history is ever-present on this album. "We've expanded the writing team on the record to include former members Mike Beams, Leon del Muerte, Matt Widener and Bud Burke in an effort to celebrate the band's history - at this point decades of it - and I think the resulting record is an excellent testament to the surprising longevity of Gore Fucking Metal!" Harvey says.

So please, accept the band's humble invitation and sink six feet down to their level. EXHUMED can't wait for you to get a whiff of what they've cooked up - this will be the most fun you've ever had being disgusted!
